BAFSRC FAQ

How does the club work?

The club is set up, run and financed by its members. The main objective of the club is to provide recreational facilities for its members whilst they are away from base.

The club only has one paid empolyee, which is the Secretary of the club, and all queries and problems should be sent through her. The link can be found on this website or e-mail bafsrc@aol.com or call the freephone number 0800 0923 766 or write to the address shown on the site.

We rely heavily on the help of the committee who are a group of volunteers, they help us move equipment and sort out problems downroute and liaise with the members directly.

We also rely heavily on members helping us repair equipment and carry equipment and send us feed back good or bad.

The hotel store and monitor equipment for us as a favour, there is no obligation for them to do this, and so we are grateful for any help they can give us. If equipment is broken or damaged or there is a problem, it should be reported back to the club.

Every member is responsible for the equipment they use, and again if there is a problem it should be reported back to the club Secretary. We do not charge for lost or damaged equipment, but we do expect members to report any thefts to us, and where possible repair or arrange repairs locally. All costs will be paid on production of a receipt.

I would like to join the committee, how do I do that?

The committee are a group of members who volunteer to help run the club. They meet every 3 months half way between LHR and LGW. They are there to resolve issues, talk about new suggestions for memberships and to promote the club and provide the vital personal contact between club and member.

To join the committee please contact Sandy Homewood the Secretary of the club through the link on this site, or via bafsrc@aol.com or on the freephone 0800 0923 766. Both Cabin crew, Flight crew, long haul and shorthaul crew are welcome and we are always looking for  new committee members

I believe I can claim back £15 towards the cost of skiing or so other activities, is this correct?

The FSRC will pay £15 towards the cost of one activity, this is only 1 claim per annum per member, so if you claim for skiing for example you would not be able to claim for sailing. The activities that are covered are as follows:-

Skiing

Boating in Europe

White water rafting

Green fees in ABZ

Green fees in CCU

If there are only 2 bikes in the hotel in Europe you can claim for bike hire, if there are 3 you cannot.

I have heard FSRC members can join the BA lottery, is this correct?

The BA FSRC has become affiliated to BA CLUBS, this allows FSRC members to join BA CLUBS lottery without having to be a member of the BA CLUBS.The number for the lottery is 020 8513 2524 and their website is www.baclubs.com. There is a link on  everypage of our website.

20% of all lottery money raised is distributed between affiliated clubs, pro rata to the number of members who have joined from that club, so if FSRC members join, we raise a few more pounds for the club

If you fill in the Application with the link, please fill in the Blue Form Current BA Employees, and then where it says Club Number- just write BAFSRC
